Bibi Sonye threatens legal action against producers if paired with male co-stars who have bad breath.
In a recent Instagram post, actress Sonye expressed her frustration with male co-stars who neglect dental hygiene. Addressing the Nigerian movie industry, she called for higher standards and better practices.
“Nigerian movie industry, we need to do better. If you’re going to give me a script with a kissing scene, ensure the actor has fresh breath. If not, I will sue your production. I’m tired of kissing people with horrible breath. Let’s normalize not kissing in romantic scenes,” Sonye urged.
She criticized the lack of basic hygiene practices among some co-stars before romantic scenes. “Eating egusi soup and then coming straight to set without using mouthwash is unacceptable. You think it’s okay to put your mouth in mine? I quit!” she lamented.
Sonye called on Nigerian movie producers to conduct proper health evaluations of their actors. She also criticized actors who fail to prepare for romantic scenes adequately.
“You’re earning millions, yet you can’t visit a dentist? Smoking weed or cigars and then bringing that to set is not okay. I’m calling on all Nollywood producers: evaluate the mouths of those you bring to set for kissing scenes,” she concluded.
