Burna Boy Denies Receiving Land or Money from Nyesom Wike

Grammy-winning artist Burna Boy, whose real name is Damini Ogulu, firmly denies ever receiving gifts or favors from any Nigerian politician, including ex-Governor Nyesom Wike.

In 2021, Wike had publicly promised Burna Boy land and cash to celebrate his Grammy win. Rivers State even hosted a homecoming for Burna Boy after his album, “Twice as Tall,” clinched the Best Global Music Album award.

However, on Thursday afternoon, Burna Boy took to his X account to clarify that Wike’s promises were never fulfilled. He stated emphatically, “No politician has ever given anything. Go ask Wike where the land he promised me or the money he pledged. You think I’m your favorite artist?”

This declaration adds to the ongoing conversation about the authenticity of political promises in Nigeria, especially those made to celebrities and public figures.
