Don Jazzy Avoids Release Dates Colliding with Wizkid, Asake
Don Jazzy, the renowned music executive and Mavin Records boss, has revealed a strategic move to avoid clashes with other major artists. In a recent podcast interview with Fisayo Fosudo, Don Jazzy disclosed that he deliberately schedules his artists’ releases to avoid coinciding with those of superstar colleagues Wizkid and Asake.
The music mogul shared that his label has shifted from the traditional Friday release date to Wednesdays and Thursdays. The reason? Fridays are crowded with major drops from top artists. According to Don Jazzy, “We (Mavin) are moving from the traditional Friday release date to Wednesdays and Thursdays because there are no more Fridays [without another artist dropping a song].”
He elaborated, “If my artiste is to drop a song or project on a Friday and Wizkid or Asake is also releasing that day, I will move our release date because you don’t want to just die a natural death.”
This strategic scheduling helps Mavin Records ensure that their releases stand out and do not get overshadowed by the high-profile launches of other artists.
