Man Utd in Talks for £30m Mason Greenwood Sale
SS Lazio have expressed interest in Manchester United outcast Mason Greenwood, with talks reportedly underway for a £30m transfer.
Greenwood spent the 2023/24 season on loan at Getafe in La Liga. United decided not to reintegrate him into their first-team setup after fan protests.
Suspended by United in January 2022 following allegations of rape and assault, Greenwood saw the charges dropped in February 2023. His return to football in La Liga with Getafe was marked by eight goals and six assists in 33 appearances.
With his loan expiring, Greenwood’s future likely lies away from Old Trafford. Several clubs have shown interest, and Lazio has entered the fray.
Mail Sport reports that Lazio is in talks with Manchester United over a potential £30m deal for Greenwood. Discussions are progressing positively, and the transfer fee might rise with performance-related add-ons.
Other clubs like Juventus, Atletico Madrid, and Borussia Dortmund have also been linked with Greenwood, while Getafe expressed interest in re-signing him for the 2024/25 season.
However, Greenwood seemed to rule out a return to Getafe, expressing his gratitude on social media. He thanked the Getafe family and fans for a remarkable season and wished them the best, signaling the end of his chapter there.
