Simi Opens Up on Handling Stage Fright with New Songs
Nigerian singer and performing artiste, Simisola Kosoko, widely known as Simi, has candidly shared her methods for handling stage fright.
Simi, the ‘Joromi’ crooner, revealed her struggles with stage fright, especially when performing a new song for the first few times. She described it as “trying on a new pair of shoes that needs adjustments.”
The singer explained that her brain needs time to bond with the song to overcome nervousness.
Sharing a clip on X, she rehearsed a song from her latest album, ‘Lost And Found.’ Simi wrote, “The first few times performing a new song live is like adjusting to new shoes. I don’t know why, maybe because of my history with bad stage fright. Now, I have to let my brain bond with the song to ignore my nerves.”
She continued, “I kept rehearsing this song (maybe overly so) because it was my first time performing it live. Of course, the nerves came. But after one or two more performances, my brain will take over and push my nerves aside.”
