Slimcase Reveals the Story Behind ‘Azaman’ and His Admiration for 2Baba
Nigerian singer Slimcase, whose real name is Oluwafemi Oladapo Oko-Eko, recently opened up about the making of his hit song “Azaman” and his deep admiration for music legend 2Baba.
During an interview on Naija Info FM on May 17, 2024, Slimcase shared how the song came together with the help of music executive Larry Gaga. Released in 2019, “Azaman” quickly became a favorite among fans.
Initially, Slimcase wanted to feature Simi on the track, but he found their musical styles didn’t quite align. His vision for the song changed after hearing Peruzzi’s collaboration with 2Baba, which he greatly admired. A longtime fan of 2Baba since his days with Plantashun Boiz, Slimcase was eager to work with the veteran artist.
When Peruzzi sent his vocals for “Azaman” to Davido, Davido loved the track and expressed interest in joining. However, Slimcase’s respect and admiration for 2Baba led him to choose the legendary singer for the collaboration instead.
Reflecting on his decision, Slimcase expressed his deep respect for 2Baba, even saying he would fully tattoo 2Baba’s image on his body if given the chance. This admiration and determination were key to creating the memorable collaboration that Azaman became.
