Sunday Oliseh Reveals How Mikel Obi Ignored Him as Super Eagles Coach

Former Super Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh, has opened up about his challenging experience with ex-Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel. In an interview on Elegbete TV, Oliseh shared that Mikel completely ignored his attempts to communicate after his appointment in July 2015.

Oliseh, a former Nigerian midfield maestro, recounted how he reached out to Mikel, but his calls and messages went unanswered. The Nigerian Football Federation had previously cautioned Oliseh about Mikel’s attitude.

Desperate to bridge the gap, Oliseh traveled to London with his assistant to meet Mikel and another Nigerian star, Victor Moses. While Moses attended the meeting, Mikel was conspicuously absent, displaying what Oliseh described as a “big ego.”

Despite these hurdles, Oliseh’s tenure as the Super Eagles manager lasted until February 2016. His candid revelations shed light on the internal challenges faced during his managerial stint.
