According to a report, Al Nassr, a Saudi Pro League team, has begun discussions to acquire Wojciech Szczesny from Juventus. The report indicates that Juventus is willing to sell the goalkeeper.
After a successful stint at Arsenal, the Polish international moved to Serie A in 2017, quickly adapting to life in Italy with Juventus. During the 2023/24 season, he made 35 appearances, contributing to Juventus’ third-place finish in the league.
Recent reports suggest Juventus is considering selling the goalkeeper, especially with plans to offer a new contract to backup goalkeeper Mattia Perin. Additionally, Monza’s Michele Di Gregorio is poised to join Juventus as a new starter, potentially paving the way for Szczesny’s departure.
Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia is reportedly interested in acquiring the 34-year-old. Talks have commenced, with the final decision resting with Szczesny himself. With his contract at Juventus running until 2025, a sale this summer would make financial sense for the club.
Since joining Juventus, Szczesny has amassed an impressive collection of trophies, including three league titles, three Coppa Italia trophies, and two Italian Super Cups. A move to Al Nassr could offer him the chance to compete for the Saudi Pro League title alongside football stars like Cristiano Ronaldo, Aymeric Laporte, and Sadio Mane.
Before focusing on the upcoming 2024/25 season, Szczesny is set to represent Poland in the European Championships. Their first match is scheduled for June 16 against the Netherlands in the group stage.
