Burna Boy Receives Plaque for 1 Billion UK Streams Milestone

Nigerian superstar Burna Boy, also known as the African Giant, has reached another milestone in his illustrious career. Burna Boy receives a BRIT plaque for surpassing 1 billion UK streams, marking a significant achievement in the music industry.

On Saturday night, during his sold-out show at the iconic London Stadium, Burna Boy was presented with a BRIT Award plaque commemorating his surpassing of one billion streams in the United Kingdom. This achievement places Burna Boy alongside his fellow Nigerian artist, Wizkid, as the only two African musicians to have achieved over a billion streams in the UK.

Burna Boy’s global impact extends beyond streaming numbers, as he also holds the record for the highest-charting African album on the UK charts with his 2022 album, Love, Damini, which reached number one. The presentation of the plaque capped off a historic night for Burna Boy. He became the first African artist to headline a UK stadium twice with his electrifying performance during his I Told Them world tour. Fans roared with excitement as Burna Boy belted out hits like “Last Last,” “Gbona,” and “On The Low.”

Surprisingly, Burna Boy expressed disappointment at the BRITs plaque for 1 billion UK streams. He has reportedly surpassed over 2 billion UK streams since 2021. After his reaction, he then said, “I appreciate regardless.” This statement made many Nigerians proud of his confidence in his accomplishments.

Burna Boy’s journey to receiving this plaque for 1 billion UK streams is a testament to his enduring influence and talent. His achievements continue to elevate the status of African music on the global stage.
