Kamala Harris Raises Record $81M in 24 Hours for Presidential Bid
US Vice President Kamala Harris has raised a record-breaking $81 million for her presidential campaign in the first 24 hours. This fundraising surge followed President Biden’s announcement that he would not seek reelection and his endorsement of Harris.
According to Harris’ campaign, more than 880,000 people donated to her campaign, the Democratic National Committee, and joint fundraising organizations. “The historic outpouring of support for Vice President Harris represents exactly the kind of grassroots energy and enthusiasm that wins elections,” said campaign spokesperson Kevin Munoz. “Already, we are seeing a broad and diverse coalition come together to support our critical work of talking to the voters that will decide this election.”
Munoz added, “Donald Trump is terrified because he knows his divisive, unpopular agenda can’t stand up to the Vice President’s record and vision for the American people.”
This fundraising total marks the highest 24-hour figure recorded by any candidate during the 2024 campaign. The funds raised for the Biden-Harris ticket have been transferred to Harris’ new presidential campaign. According to the Federal Election Commission, the ticket had raised $296 million through June 30, compared to $221 million for Trump.
Addressing campaign personnel in Wilmington, Delaware, Harris acknowledged the “rollercoaster” of recent weeks while expressing confidence in her new campaign team. “It is my intention to go out and earn this nomination and to win,” she said.
Her campaign pledge focuses on “uniting our Democratic Party, uniting our nation, and winning this election.”
