Kanayo O. Kanayo Challenges Monogamy as Un-African Concept

Renowned Nollywood actor Kanayo O. Kanayo has ignited a fiery debate by challenging the concept of monogamy.

On a recent episode of “The Honest Bunch” podcast, Kanayo argued that monogamy contradicts African traditions. He staunchly advocates for polygamy, viewing monogamy as an imposition on African societies.

Sharing his personal journey, Kanayo revealed that the idea of divorce became apparent only after relocating from the South East to Lagos. In Igbo culture, divorce is a rare last resort, with men preferring marital endurance over separation.

He emphasized that Igbo tradition upholds marital stability, valuing unity within families over individual choices.

Kanayo’s stance underscores his belief in the cultural authenticity of polygamy, questioning the suitability of monogamy in African contexts. He asserts that polygamy resonates more deeply with African heritage and cultural identity, challenging prevailing norms.
