King Sunny Ade Shares Insight into Relationship with Late Onyeka Onwenu

Famous Juju musician King Sunny Ade recently reflected on his deep bond with the late singer Onyeka Onwenu.

During a visit to Onwenu’s family to offer his condolences, Sunny Ade was interviewed by QEDng and other media outlets. When asked about his relationship with the late singer, Sunny Ade struggled to put his emotions into words, stating, “I can’t explain it; you know if they give you the news of the death of a loved one who has to do with your life and also your work.”

He emphasized that Onwenu was far more than just a colleague; she frequently provided him with invaluable advice. “She wasn’t just an ordinary woman; she was someone who would sit down with you and say, ‘Can I chip in some advice?’ Her advice was always spot on,” he noted.

Sunny Ade fondly recalled the significant support Onwenu offered to his music and career. “She used to do more than I did when it came to collaborative music. She would tap me and say, ‘Sunny, let’s take it this way,’ and it was always good,” he reminisced.
