Man Utd, Liverpool, & Barcelona in race for Jeremie Frimpong.

Manchester United and Liverpool are reportedly interested in Bayer Leverkusen’s right-back, Jeremie Frimpong, who is also on Barcelona’s radar.

Frimpong, who previously played for Manchester City’s academy and Celtic, has risen to prominence as one of the world’s top attacking full-backs under Xabi Alonso at Leverkusen. The 23-year-old concluded the 2023–24 season with impressive 26 goal contributions, including nine goals in the Bundesliga, helping ‘Neverkusen’ secure their first league title.

The German publication SportBild reports that both Manchester United and Liverpool are now showing interest in Frimpong. This adds to the existing links with Barcelona, with SPORT earlier claiming that Barcelona has already made an offer for Frimpong. However, this offer reportedly does not meet the €40 million (£33.7 million) release clause in his contract, which is set to expire soon.

Barcelona’s interest is believed to stem from a recommendation by new head coach Hansi Flick, although the club’s financial constraints could hinder their ability to make substantial transfers this summer.

Manchester United could be in the market for a new right-back despite Diogo Dalot’s improved performance last season and Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s uncertain future. Meanwhile, Liverpool might consider shifting Trent Alexander-Arnold to a midfield role permanently, making room for Frimpong, especially under new manager Arne Slot.

Jeremie Frimpong’s rising profile and potential transfer make him a significant target for these top clubs.
