Muslim Woman Slams Nancy Isime for Using Hijab in Robbery Scene
Adiba Hayah, a Muslim woman, has taken to TikTok to voice her fury and dismay over Nollywood actress Nancy Isime’s use of the Hijab in an upcoming film project. Nancy posted pictures from the project on Instagram, showing herself with a gun in her hand and donning a Hijab. She also posted a picture of the actors, three of whom were also wearing Hijab, during a robbery scene.
Adiba spoke vehemently to Nancy, claiming that the Hijab is not a costume to be used to promote negative concepts in society. She stressed that Muslims are already facing various obstacles, such as hardship and tribal conflicts, and do not require the added burden of religious disdain.
Adiba emphasized that the Hijab reflects a lifetime commitment to religious ideals such as humility and righteousness. She expressed disgust with the ongoing contempt for people’s beliefs for the sake of amusement, pointing out that alternate face coverings might have been utilized in the scene.
Adiba asked when this disrespect would stop, highlighting the harmful impact it has on Muslim women around the world. She strongly condemned the portrayal and called for greater sensitivity towards religious symbols and their significance.
