Real Madrid to Open Contract Talks with Carvajal
Real Madrid are set to open contract negotiations with Dani Carvajal, aiming to secure his future at the club.
Dani Carvajal, who has spent most of his career at Madrid except for a brief stint at Bayer Leverkusen, made 41 appearances last season, scoring six goals and providing five assists in his most prolific campaign yet. As he enters the final year of his contract this summer, speculation about his future has been rampant. However, Los Blancos appear eager to retain the 32-year-old right-back.
Fabrizio Romano reports that Madrid sees the six-time Champions League winner as a key part of their future. The club must first finalize the futures of Luka Modric and Lucas Vazquez, both expected to sign extensions, before focusing on Carvajal’s new deal.
Currently on international duty with Spain at Euro 2024, Carvajal faced his Madrid teammate Modric in the group stage, becoming Spain’s oldest goalscorer in a European Championship. Talks for his extension will commence upon his return, and Madrid hopes to reach a quick agreement, as Carvajal has expressed his desire to retire at Santiago Bernabeu.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side aims to defend their La Liga title in the 2024/25 season and retain their Champions League crown, with Carvajal playing a pivotal role in these ambitions.
