Joke Silva Shares Olu Jacobs’ Health Update

Nollywood actress Joke Silva, wife of veteran actor Olu Jacobs, recently provided updates on her husband’s health, addressing concerns about his appearance and condition. Silva explained that Jacobs had been diagnosed with dementia with Lewy bodies, which is different from Alzheimer’s.

“He has dementia with Lewy body, which is totally different from Alzheimer’s. The treatments for these conditions are contra-indicative. Using Alzheimer’s medication for someone with Lewy body dementia can cause severe reactions. We discovered this after consulting with a geriatologist. It’s crucial for people over 60 to see specialists in geriatrics,” Silva emphasized.

In the early stages, understanding his condition was challenging, but once they grasped it, Jacobs’ health improved. Silva reassured fans that, physically, Olu Jacobs is strong and healthy. “He arm wrestles with his sons and often wins. However, he has issues with his vision, which affects his navigation in unfamiliar places, causing him to shuffle.”

Silva also highlighted the importance of meeting Jacobs where he is mentally. “When conversing with him, align with his current thoughts. If he says he’s supposed to be on set, agree and gently redirect. This approach helps him self-correct over time.”
