Manchester United Make Late Bid for Michael Olise Amid Bayern Munich Transfer Talks
Manchester United Make late bid for Michael Olise, who had previously agreed to join Bayern Munich from Crystal Palace, according to reports.
Last month, Olise chose Bayern as his preferred destination, and negotiations for a transfer to the Allianz Arena intensified. A smooth completion of the deal was expected.
However, the transfer has not been finalized, and Sky Sport Germany reports that other clubs are now trying to secure the Frenchman’s signature.
Manchester United is the only club named as attempting to outbid Bayern at this point. It was anticipated that Olise would have his medical in Munich last week, but Bayern still needs to resolve some details with Crystal Palace before the move can proceed.
Back in February, 90min reported that INEOS had approved United’s pursuit of Olise in the summer if other key decision-makers agreed. Nevertheless, Olise slipped down their list of priorities as the club initially focused on strengthening other positions.
Interestingly, Manchester United is also reportedly in talks with Bayern Munich over a potential €50m deal for Matthijs de Ligt. Should he join, de Ligt would reunite with his former Ajax manager Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford.
Despite United’s interest, Bayern’s deal for Olise is not yet in jeopardy. If they secure Olise, Bayern plans to play him on the right wing, complementing a front four of Jamal Musiala, Leroy Sane, and Harry Kane. Additionally, Bayern is looking to sign Xavi Simons and Joao Palhinha to bolster their midfield.
