Portable Loses 100K Followers After Controversial Protest Comment

Habeeb Okikiola, known as Portable, has lost over 100,000 Instagram followers after making controversial remarks about the ongoing #EndBadGovernance protest.

On August 1st, Nigerians launched a nationwide protest against bad governance, driven by severe hunger and hardship. Despite this, Portable claimed on social media that there were no protests in Sango, Ogun State, where he resides. He stated that past demonstrations were ignored by the government, leading him and his neighbors to focus on their daily hustle instead.

This remark sparked severe backlash. Fans, upset by his comments, began unfollowing him, with over 100,000 followers lost in a matter of hours. Many had previously warned they would unfollow the “Zazuu” crooner if he continued to make such statements.

Portable had also compared himself to billionaire Aliko Dangote in a prior video, describing the protests as activities for the poor, further inflaming his audience.

Reactions to his posts have been strong:

@lyonn_ade: “Unfollowed as well!!! Good riddance to bad rubbish!!”

@international_hype_man_philzy: “He deserves it.”

@gid_eon202: “Keep reporting and unfollowing him guys.”

@itz_eberegal: “Let me go and do mine too.”

@wisdomjoe_: “I unfollowed him yesterday. I hate nonsense and I don’t support wrong things, especially in times like this.”

@vikky__billz: “Account wey him go still lose dey play.”

@mr.belefu: “What’s wrong with Nigerians sef? Let’s bring down this rebranded agbero page! Let’s tell him that we Nigerians made him.”

@godso_oluwapmoney: “We can do more better.”

@playworld__ent: “He knew one day he will be the downfall of his career.”

@officialmullerrichi: “Make sure you unfollow and report at the same time.”

Portable’s controversial stance and subsequent follower loss highlight the power of social media and public opinion, especially during critical times of protest and social unrest.
